Internship Overview
The Development & Impact Intern will support the Advancement & Communications
Department, working closely with the Development Officer and the Volunteer Engagement
Coordinator, while collaborating with Program and Data teams.
This internship is ideal for a student interested in nonprofit fundraising, data-driven storytelling,
and measuring community impact. The intern will gain hands-on experience in development
operations, database management, volunteer engagement, and impact analytics – contributing
meaningfully to New York Edge’s mission to bridge the opportunity gap among students in
underinvested communities.
Key Responsibilities
Development Support
● Support fundraising campaigns and special initiatives
● Help update donor database in Salesforce and track gifts and acknowledgments
● Assist with preparing donor materials, communications and reports
● Conduct prospect research on individuals, foundations and corporate partners
● Support stewardship efforts, including thank-you letters and impact updates
Impact & Data Storytelling
● Assist in compiling and analyzing parent and principal data from surveys and interviews
● Support development of impact dashboards or visual summaries
● Help translate program outcomes into clear, donor-facing materials
● Support tracking of volunteer engagement met
● Support tracking of volunteer engagement metrics and in-kind donation impact
● Assist with planning and coordinating volunteer events
● Help manage volunteer communications, sign-ups, and tracking
● Support Back to School Drive, including packing events and in-kind donation support
● Assist with data entry and documentation related to volunteer participation and impact
Qualifications
● Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student
● Interest in nonprofit development, social impact, data analysis and/or educational equity
● Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills
● Proficiency in Google Workspace; familiarity with Salesforce or other CRMs is a plus
● Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
