About the Role

HMM America Shipping Agency, Inc., a world leader in integrated logistics and maritime transport, invites ambitious students to join our dynamic team for an enriching internship experience! This is a temporary paid internship position of 8 weeks of work, with the possibility of a full-time offer at the end of the internship.

What you can expect as an HMM Intern:

Gain comprehensive industry insight through an 8- weeks program where you will be embedded within a core department, gaining comprehensive industry insight and hands-on experience. While focusing on your assigned area, you will develop a high-level understanding of how global logistics functions by engaging with the following key pillars:

  • Terminal Operations: Gain a front-row seat to the logistical complexities of port and terminal management, learning how cargo moves from ship to shore.
  • Export Pricing Analysis: Support export operations by analyzing real-time market trends and assisting with competitive pricing strategies.
  • Contracts & Claims Review: Learn the legal and financial intricacies of shipping agreements and the critical role of risk management in protecting global trade.
  • Container Billing & Documentation: Master the essential business processes and financial flows that keep international cargo moving seamlessly.


Your Responsibilities

  • Assist with data entry, maintaining databases, and ensuring records are accurate and up-to-date
  • Gather information on industry trends and business processes to support decision-making
  • Attend departmental meetings, take notes, and contribute ideas during brainstorming sessions
  • Keep track of individual learning progress utilizing program resources
  • Monitor and track order status and assist with resolving customer inquiries
  • Develop a presentation at the conclusion of the program to demonstrate your learning experience

Qualifications:

Your Skills and Experiences

  • Current (or recently graduated) university student, ideally majoring in supply chain, international business, or a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work in a team environment
  • Possesses a positive attitude with an interest in learning and growing

Additional Details:

The pay range listed for this position is the anticipated starting salary or wage range, and the final offered rate will be based on individual merit and the relative compensation of employees in similar positions. Interns are not eligible for employee benefits. If you are selected for a post-internship offer, the full-time offer will include highly subsidized individual and family insurance coverage (medical, dental and vision), term life and disability insurance, 401(k) employer matching contributions, paid holidays, and up to 10 vacation days and six sick days in the first year.
