About the Role

**Please note there are specific application instructions required to be considered for this role**

At Manulife, we believe in investing in the future – starting with you. Our Actuarial Co-op Program is your launchpad to success, offering the support, structure, and exciting opportunities you need to thrive and make your mark.

As an Actuarial Co-op student, you’ll gain valuable exposure to key actuarial disciplines including pricing, valuation, modeling, risk management, asset liability management and experience analytics. You will have the chance to develop crucial technical and business skills while collaborating with industry-leading actuaries and professionals in a supportive learning environment.

Our co-op program offers more than just experience; you'll join a vibrant community, participate in engaging events, receive competitive compensation with exam study support, benefit from personalized mentorship, and access into Canada’s largest actuarial network.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside actuarial professionals, gaining insights into industry standards and practices while picking up professional effectiveness habits.

  • Build a professional network in one of the largest actuarial employers in North America.

  • Attend presentations from guest speakers on a variety of topics (such as AXIS modelling, actuarial functions, and exam study tips).

  • Develop technical and soft skills by participating in presentations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Working towards a University degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Statistics, or a related discipline.

  • Possessing relevant actuarial experience and demonstrating a strong commitment towards FSA/FCIA designations (e.g. passing at least one SOA exam) are considered assets.

  • Fully bilingual (French/English): The successful candidate will be required to communicate in English and French in order to support clients from various jurisdictions outside of Quebec.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A working knowledge of Excel is required; experience with AXIS or other actuarial software is an asset.

  • Excellent communication skills with ability to effectively present issues, options, and recommendations to both actuarial and non-actuarial audiences.

  • Solution-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Self-starter and team player with a high level of initiative and strong work ethic.

  • Demonstrated leadership qualities in prior roles and/or extracurricular activities.

When you join our team:

  • We’ll empower you to learn and grow the career you want.

  • We’ll recognize and support you in a flexible environment where well-being and inclusion are more than just words.

  • As part of our global team, we’ll support you in shaping the future you want to see.

  • As part of our co-op program, you will gain early access to Manulife’s premier early talent program, Graduate Recruitment Opportunities (GRO), tailored to graduating students! This program is designed to launch your career with the support, structure, and opportunities you need to thrive.

Application Instructions:

  • Please submit your resume, academic transcript, and work term evaluation in one PDF file.

  • In your resume, please indicate your location preference and the co-op term(s) you are available to work (Sep-Dec).
