The Old Mutual Internship Program is a 6-month structured, rotational experience designed to help you transition from campus to the world of work with confidence.
You’ll gain hands-on experience across different business units, work on real projects that impact the business, and learn directly from experienced professionals who are invested in your growth.
This program is built to stretch you, support you, and set you up for long-term success through:
• Rotations across key business areas
• Real business projects and assignments
• Job shadowing and experiential learning
• Coaching, mentoring, and continuous feedback
• Exposure to a diverse network of professionals within your business units

By the end of the program, you won’t just understand the business-you’ll understand where you fit in it and how you can shape its future.

1. INTERNSHIP EXPOSURE AREAS

During the program, you will have the opportunity to experience and contribute across a wide range of business areas such as – Banking, Investments, Technology, Data & Innovation, Actuarial, Human Resources, Finance & Operations, Marketing, Business Development and Insurance (both General and Life).

This breadth of exposure is designed to help you discover your strengths, build cross-functional awareness, and understand how different parts of the business come together to deliver value.

3. QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with a minimum of Second Class Upper Division
  • Be available to commit for a full time period for a period of 6 months
  • Be in your final year of study or have graduated in the last year.
  • A clear interest in building a career within financial services, insurance, or fintech
  • Beyond your academic qualifications, you bring curiosity, drive, and a willingness to learn.
  • You are proactive, adaptable, and ready to take ownership of your growth while contributing meaningfully to the teams you join.
  • You are naturally curious, hungry for growth, are not afraid of challenges, and value feedback.
  • You are looking for a blend of purpose, impact and an the opportunity to shape Africa’s financial future.

4. WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

By the end of this program, you will have grown into a confident, well-rounded professional who can apply technical and functional expertise in real business contexts - not just in theory.

You will develop strong business and commercial acumen, with a clear understanding of how decisions drive impact and results. You’ll approach challenges with clarity and confidence, using critical thinking and structured problem-solving to navigate complexity and deliver meaningful solutions.

5. ANTI-MONEY LAUNDERING (AML) EXPECTATION

The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring adherence to, implementation of, and adoption of Compliance, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Sanctions-related policies, procedures, and process requirements within Old Mutual and its subsidiaries. This includes execution of customer due diligence processes, ensuring compliance with Know-Your-Customer (KYC) standards, conducting ongoing and enhanced due diligence, and maintaining data quality. Additionally, the role involves identifying and monitoring potential AML, Sanctions, or Compliance breaches and unusual activities, and escalating these concerns to the Risk and Compliance Office for further action.
