About the Role

Position Summary:

 

This position will support our mechanics with cleaning, maintenance, and assistance with day-to-day operations of the mechanic shop.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  1. Assist with basic maintenance on vehicles and related equipment under direct supervision of Mechanic II or Transportation Supervisor.
  2. Clean and maintain shop area and surrounding grounds to ensure a safe work environment.
  3. Assist with inventory levels of repair parts.
  4. Assist with cleaning of company vehicles and equipment.
  5. In addition to these responsibilities, may be assigned by the Transportation Supervisor to perform other duties from time to time.



Education:



Must be a current high school, technical school, or college student.

 

Experience:



Prior experience is helpful but not required. Must possess a strong work ethic and be safety minded.



Job Knowledge:

 

Basic knowledge of mechanical repairs and the day-to-day operations of a mechanics shop is helpful but not required.



Abilities and Skills:

 

  1. Must possess a valid Texas license with good driving record.
  2. Must be able to communicate in English, both in written and oral forms with the general public and co-workers.
  3. Must be able to accurately enter information into a computer.
  4. Must be able to lift/move 50 pounds or more, as necessary without external assistance of personnel or mechanical aids.
  5. Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time, sometimes in uneven terrain.
  6. Must be able to frequently climb, balance, bend, twist, push, pull, kneel, crawl, and work in awkward positions to service equipment.
  7. Must have sight to be able to see working conditions from a safety standpoint.
  8. Must practice good safety habits.

 

Working Environment:

 

The majority of the work schedule will be performed in a shop/garage and occasionally working at various locations within the service territory each day. The individual must be willing to work in all adverse and inclement weather conditions. The position requires the individual to perform repetitive motions and possess manual dexterity for the completion of duties. This position requires exertion of up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently.
