Project Title: Dry Etch Process Development


Project Description:

This internship project provides exposure to semiconductor dry etch process development within a manufacturing environment. The project focuses on structured experimentation and data analysis to evaluate opportunities for process efficiency improvement, material cost reduction, and process variation reduction.
 

Objective of the Project:

The objective of this project is to develop an understanding of dry etch process fundamentals and to identify improvement opportunities through experimental evaluation and process characterization.

Project Scope:

  • Learn the fundamentals of dry etch processes and equipment hardware

  • Gain exposure to one dry etch application used in Micron manufacturing

  • Understand process characterization methods and how process parameters influence product patterning outcomes

  • Analyze experimental data to identify opportunities aligned with project objectives

Learning Opportunities:

  • Hands-on exposure to semiconductor process development methodologies

  • Application of engineering fundamentals in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience in structured problem-solving, data analysis, and technical communication|

Deliverables:

  • Evaluation and optimization proposal for an existing dry etch process with measurable improvements in process time, cost, and/or variation

  • Technical presentation summarizing experimental approach, analysis, and findings

  • The project will contribute to improved process efficiency, cost effectiveness, and process stability, supporting manufacturing performance and technology development goals.

Skillset Required:

  • Good communication and presentation skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Strong interest in learning and applying engineering fundamentals

Course of Interests:

  • An ideal candidate should be pursuing a degree in a relevant discipline such as Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.

Duration Period: Minimum 3 months
