Job Summary:

This internship offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic academic medical center environment. Interns will contribute to key projects, support daily operations, and gain insight into the complexities of healthcare administration, patient services, clinical operations, research support, or other key functions.

Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong interest in healthcare operations or administration. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with departmental projects and administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Support data collection, entry, analysis, and reporting activities.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, workflow optimization, and service enhancement projects.
  • Participate in meetings, presentations, and collaborative initiatives across departments.
  • Shadow professionals in clinical, operational, or research settings to gain exposure to healthcare processes and systems.
  • Provide general support to operational teams, including scheduling, documentation, and customer service tasks.
  • Comply with all applicable policies, procedures, and confidentiality standards.

Physical and Environmental Demands
Requires occasional exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, occasional handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment, occasional exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, occasional travelling to offsite locations, occasional bending, occasional lifting and carrying up to 75 pounds, occasional climbing, occasional crawling, occasional crouching/stooping, occasional kneeling, occasional pushing/pulling, occasional reaching, frequent sitting, frequent standing, frequent twisting, and frequent walking. (occasional-up to 20%, frequent-from 21% to 50%, constant-51% or more)
