About the Role

Position: 2026 Summer Intern – Emergency Planning

 

Location: Palisades Energy

Dates/ Duration: Summer 2026 (approx. May - September)

 

Holtec Palisades seeks a highly motivated Summer Intern for Procedural review and validation and Drill & Exercise Preparation and Support with the company’s Emergency Preparedness department located at Palisades Nuclear Power Plant in Covert, MI.

Palisades is positioned to become the first nuclear power plant in the United States to restart after previously entering the early stages of decommissioning. By joining our team, you will be part of a unique and historic undertaking for the nuclear industry and the nation!

In order to be considered, candidates must be actively enrolled in a college or university. Pay will be determined based on years completed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive review of Emergency Preparedness procedures against Site Emergency Plan, Alert & Notification System Design Report, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide support of Emergency Preparedness Drills & Exercises, preparation and execution.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management or Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement or related field.
  • In good academic standing, with a GPA of at least 3.0.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team setting.
  • Well organized and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional and appropriate attitude, appearance, interpersonal skills, and work ethic.
