About the Role

Description

The Student Cobot Welder is responsible for learning and operating collaborative robotic (cobot) welding systems in a structured, hands-on environment. This role progresses from guided instruction to independent programming and full production operation. The position provides practical experience in robotic welding, programming, and manufacturing processes.

 **The Student Cobot Welder must be a current high school student or post grad senior who has less than 6 months post-graduation. Students must be able to complete a minimum of 120 hours of work and begin work no later than June 12, 2026. All students must be able to have their internship completed no later than September 30, 2026.**  

Requirements

  

Cobot Programming & Operation

  • Navigate the Lincoln Electric teach pendant interface to control and program welding operations 
  • Jog robot axes and understand Tool Center Point (TCP) positioning 
  • Create waypoints and develop basic to advanced weld paths 
  • Input and adjust weld parameters, including voltage, wire feed speed, and travel speed 
  • Perform dry-run simulations prior to initiating weld cycles 

System Setup & Troubleshooting

  • Set up fixtures and align parts to meet welding specifications 
  • Identify and troubleshoot weld defects, program errors, and system faults 
  • Adjust programs and parameters to compensate for fit-up issues and material distortion 
  • Understand and maintain safe programming positions and collision zones

Production Operation

  • Execute complete weld cycles from start to finish 
  • Operate cobot welding systems using standard work instructions 
  • Load and unload parts safely and efficiently 
  • Run multiple production cycles with minimal supervision
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment while following all safety protocols.
