The National Association of Home Builders’ Summer Internship Program offers a structured, hands-on experience designed to provide meaningful exposure to the housing industry and the policy environment that shapes it. Located in the National Housing Center and based in Washington, D.C., the summer program places interns alongside experienced professionals, where they contribute to real-time initiatives, develop practical skills, and gain insight into the work of a national trade association.
As part of the Marketing team, the Marketing Intern will support NAHB’s membership, digital, and event marketing initiatives that advance the association’s mission, drive member recruitment and engagement, and promote NAHB meetings and events. This role offers hands-on experience across both traditional and digital marketing functions and provides the opportunity to collaborate with copywriters, graphic designers, and other stakeholders throughout the organization.
What You’ll Do
- Support the Membership Marketing, Digital Marketing and Event Marketing teams on projects related to member recruitment, onboarding, engagement and event promotion
- Staff and support an in-person merchandise pop-up at NAHB’s Spring Leadership Meeting
- Track inventory for NAHB merchandise and member giveaways
- Assist in planning and implementing paid and organic social media marketing efforts
- Create email templates and support email campaign development
- Design house ads for nahb.org
- Collaborate on print collateral and signage to be used at NAHB events
- Edit videos and images into short-form clips optimized for YouTube and Instagram Reels
- Help create and organize a bank of digital assets for the Digital Marketing and IBS Marketing teams to use throughout the year
- Provide additional project and administrative support across marketing initiatives as needed
What You’ll Learn

- Insight into collaboration across marketing functions, including content development, creative support, email marketing, social media and event promotion
- Skill development in digital content creation, campaign coordination, asset management and cross-functional teamwork
- Opportunities to build relationships with marketing professionals and stakeholders across the organization
Who You Are
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic understanding of digital and traditional marketing principles
- Interest in marketing, communications, advertising, public affairs, graphic design or a related field
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects with strong attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams
- Creative, organized and eager to learn in a fast-paced professional environment
- Proficiency in Outlook, Canva, Word and Excel
- Preference for current college or graduate students majoring in Communications, Public Affairs, Marketing, Advertising or Graphic Design
