What’s the role

Location: Bintulu, Sarawak

Reporting Line: SC Manager (SMDS)

The Supply Chain AI Intern will support the Supply Chain (SC) organization in accelerating digital and AI‑enabled transformation. The role focuses on developing analytics, automation, and GenAI tools that enhance planning, contracting, logistics visibility, and operational decision‑making while maintaining Shell’s standards for HSSE, ethics, and data governance.

What you’ll be doing

Accountabilities:

1. Data & Insights

• Cleanse and structure data from ERP (SAP), spreadsheets, and supplier inputs to maintain accurate and reliable datasets.

• Develop or enhance Power BI dashboards covering demand, fulfilment, inventory, turnaround readiness and cost KPIs.

2. AI‑Led Tooling & Automation

• Create simple automation workflows (Python or Power Platform) to automate routine reporting, data reconciliation, and exception alerts (e.g., price variances, stock‑outs, overdue POs, contract milestones).

• Apply GenAI tools (prompt engineering, summarization, RAG‑style retrieval) to support contract summarization, supplier performance insights, and documentation drafting.

3. Use‑Case Delivery

• Work with SC Commercial Leads, Planners, Logistics, and Finance to define pain points and deliver small analytics/AI MVPs.

• Document methodology, assumptions, calculation logic, and recommended next steps.

4. HSSE, Ethics & Compliance

• Apply Shell HSSE expectations—careful data handling, safe working behavior in office and warehouse/plant areas.

• Follow compliance requirements for data privacy, confidentiality, and supplier interactions.

5. Continuous Improvement

• Contribute ideas for simplification and standardization of SC processes.

• Prepare how‑to guides and SOP updates for newly developed tools

What you bring

• Pursuing Diploma/Bachelor’s/Master’s in Supply Chain, Engineering, Analytics, Data Science, or related fields.

• Strong Excel capability; familiarity with Power BI; basic Python/SQL desirable.

• Interest in AI/ML concepts, LLM prompting, or workflow automation (Power Automate/Apps).

• Strong communication, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.

• Ability to manage multiple parallel tasks with clear documentation.
