JOB PURPOSE or JOB SUMMARY:

The Engineer Internship role is designed for students to experience hands-on technical challenges that integrate mechanical, electrical, and software engineering principles. Interns will be mentored in multiple engineering projects, allowing for a real-life learning opportunity. Our goal is to help an intern understand the design process related to new product development, while also helping them gain a basic understanding of engineering related principles and practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with design drawing packages using CAD SolidWorks design software.
  • Gain knowledge of hydraulics, electronics, software engineering practices, mathematics, materials, and other physical sciences to complete engineering related tasks.
  • Assist in the preparation of products, detailed drawings, and schematics.
  • Learn to document proper assembly and testing procedures when applicable.
  • Confers with company personnel to clarify or resolve design and document complications.
  • Helps to analyze test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
  • Assist and perform quality inspections.
  • May shadow Design, Production, Test and Quality associates.
  • Complies with all JEM policies and procedures, including ISO, OSHA, and AWAIR requirements.
  • Supports JEM’s mission and exemplifies JEM’s core values daily.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including temporary work in other departments responsible for producing products and the operation of our business.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in an accredited Bachelor of Science or AAS Degree program that is relevant to a technology utilized by our business.
  • Proficient communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Advanced computer skills required.
  • Valid driver’s license, ability to drive independently and maintain a safe driving record.
