The Department of Planning and Development works in collaboration with communities to promote, plan, preserve, and develop successful neighborhoods for all. Reaching these goals requires city agencies to work together with residents, businesses, developers, advocates, funders, and each other. Planning and Development has a team of agencies that do just that. Our agencies include:

Job Description

Position Summary 

 

The Department of Planning and Development’s Transportation Unit is in search of a Summer 2026 Intern.  

The intern will be assisting in updating the Center City Parking report and the Trail Master Plan.  

The position will involve reviewing data from parking counts and analyzing the data for inclusion in the updated Center City Parking Report, as well as mapping and creating data visualizations of parking facilities in Center City. The Intern will also be assisting work related to the Trail Master Plan. 

 

The maximum number of hours allocated for this role is a maximum of 20 hours per week. Please submit a resume and cover letter with your application.  

 

 

Essential Functions 

The essential functions for this internship may include: 

  • Review of data from parking counts 

  • Analyzing data of parking counts 

  • Mapping and creation of data visualizations of parking facilities  

  • Assist in related work

  • Microsoft Excel 

  • GIS (Geographic Information Systems) 

  • Data analysis 

  • Data visualization  

  • and Writing  

  

Qualifications

Education & Experience:  

Undergraduate level studies. Majors include Urban Planning, Geography, Urban Studies,  or Public Policy.
