About The Company
The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) strives to protect the American Dream of housing opportunities for all, while working to achieve professional success for its members who build communities, create jobs and strengthen our economy. Each year, NAHB members construct about 80% of the new homes built in the United States. A federation of more than 700 state and local associations, NAHB represents more than 140,000 builder, remodeler, specialty trade, sales and marketing, design, housing finance, and building supply/manufacturing members. Since its inception in the early 1940s, NAHB has served as “the voice of America’s housing industry.” Its primary goals are to ensure that housing is a national priority and that all Americans have access to safe, decent and affordable housing, whether they choose to buy a home or rent. NAHB’s Annual Convention and Exposition, the International Builders’ Show (IBS - BuildersShow.com), is the largest annual event for the residential and light commercial construction industry.
About the Role

The National Association of Home Builders’ Summer Internship Program offers a structured, hands-on experience designed to provide meaningful exposure to the housing industry and the policy environment that shapes it. Located in the National Housing Center and based in Washington, D.C., the summer program places interns alongside experienced professionals, where they contribute to real-time initiatives, develop practical skills, and gain insight into the work of a national trade association.

As part of the Information Technology team, the Information Technology Intern will support NAHB’s MemberPay initiative and digital archival efforts by helping reconcile membership data between NAHB and local associations and by reviewing archived digital assets to ensure they are organized for accurate and efficient retrieval. This role provides direct exposure to data integrity, information management, digital asset organization, and cross-departmental collaboration and is ideal for a student interested in information technology, data management, digital archives, information science, or a related field.

What You’ll Do

  • Reconcile membership data between NAHB and local associations to identify inconsistencies, gaps, and opportunities to improve data accuracy
  • Review archived digital objects to confirm assets are tagged with the appropriate metadata and taxonomy for efficient search and retrieval
  • Assist in maintaining and strengthening NAHB’s digital archival structure to support broader access to historical resources
  • Organize, validate, and update information across systems and records with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Document findings, track discrepancies, and support follow-up efforts related to data reconciliation and archival organization
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support project needs tied to MemberPay and digital records management
  • Provide administrative and project support to help advance key Information Technology initiatives

What You’ll Learn

  • Hands-on experience in data reconciliation, data accuracy, and information management within a national trade association
  • Exposure to how digital assets are organized, categorized, and maintained for long-term access and usability
  • Insight into the role of metadata, taxonomy, and system structure in supporting operational efficiency
  • Opportunities to build professional experience in IT project support and digital resource management

Who You Are

  • Ability to perform diverse and complex tasks with accuracy and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and manage assigned work with minimal oversight
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Interest in information technology, data management, digital archives, records management, or a related field
  • Comfort working with spreadsheets, structured data, and digital files
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
