Chemours is seeking an Operator Learn & Earn Intern to join our Washington Works team! This position will report directly to the Training Venture Leader at our Parkersburg, West Virginia location.

Location: Parkersburg, WV

Hours: 30 hours per week

Term: June 2026 - December 2027

Performs a variety of administrative duties. Work generally requires knowledge of company and/or business/functional practices, policies, programs and/or product line. Resolves routine and non-routine inquiries. Administrative responsibilities include typing, filing and other assigned administrative work, document preparation and management, correspondence, travel arrangements, and meeting/travel coordination. Maintains confidentiality.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Monitors and operates low hazard equipment and facilities (i.e. product compounding, product finishing), including field equipment, insuring quality and conformance with standard operating procedures.  Maintains safety standards at all times and initiates and follows emergency procedures when necessary. Performs basic maintenance repair and upkeep on area equipment.  May perform practical maintenance activities, as qualified.

  • Move control settings to make necessary adjustments on equipment units affecting speeds of chemical reactions, quality, and yields.

  • Control or operate chemical processes or systems of machines, using panelboards, control boards, or semi-automatic equipment.

  • Record operating data such as process conditions, test results, and instrument readings.

  • Confer with technical and supervisory personnel to report or resolve conditions affecting safety, efficiency, and product quality.

  • Regulate or shut down equipment during emergency situations.

  • Start pumps to wash and rinse reactor vessels, to exhaust gases and vapors, to regulate the flow of oil, steam, air, and perfume to towers, and to add products to converter or blending vessels.

  • Interpret chemical reactions visible through sight glasses or on television monitors, and review laboratory test reports for process adjustments.

  • Patrol work areas to ensure that solutions in tanks and troughs are not in danger of overflowing.

  • Respond to alarms

The following is required for this role:

  • High School Diploma/GED equivalent

  • Ability to work rotating 12- hour shifts including overtime, weekends, holidays, and short notice call-in as required.

  • Ability to lift up to 55 pounds, climb stairs, stand, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, and reach overhead,

  • Ability to wear required PPE (personal Protective Equipment – eyewear, acid suit, breathing air, etc.)

  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
