About the Role

EHS Intern

Contract duration :  3 months with potential to expand to 6 months

 

 

 

The Intern EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) is responsible for cultivating a strong safety and environmental compliance culture across the site. The Intern EHS will work under the direction of the Plant manager and in collaboration with the safety coordinator to assist and support with all compliance aspects of SIF (serious incident or fatality) and critical safety programs along with other health and Environmental processes/programs/procedures to achieve and maintain a zero-injury environment.  

 

Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Culture Building: Championing a zero-injury environment and embedding EHS values throughout the organization.

 

  • Program Management: Developing, implementing, and evaluating critical safety programs (e.g., SIF, risk assessments, routine program updates, and new program implementation).

 

  • Hazard Identification & Risk Mitigation: Proactively identifying and controlling hazards through formal assessments and control measures.

 

  • Incident Management: Support investigations, identifying root causes, and ensuring corrective actions are taken.

 

  • Training & Awareness: Ensuring all employees are trained, competent, and engaged in EHS practices.

 

  • Compliance & Reporting: Managing documentation, environmental reporting, and regulatory compliance.

 

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborating with site leadership, safety committees, and business units to drive innovation and sustainability.

 

  • Metrics & Communication: Maintaining and communicating EHS performance data and overseeing SDS systems.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Qualified candidates must be currently enrolled or recent graduate from a college/university program in any field related to EH&S, such as Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Science or equivalent preferred.
  • Basic understanding of EHS programs in a manufacturing environment
  • Foundational knowledge of Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) standards, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and/or State environmental regulations and regulatory program areas.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of MS Office applications
  • Excellent communication, strong organizational skills, positive attitude, analytical skills
  • Must be able to complete tasks in given time frames
  • Must be organized, detail oriented, with good follow through
  • Proficiency communicating data and information both orally and in writing
  • Understanding of basic industrial hygiene/occupational health and safety regulations and technical skills
