About the Role

Position Purpose

The Finance Intern supports the Finance and Accounting team by assisting with financial analysis, reporting, and data management to ensure accurate and timely financial information across the portfolio. This role provides hands-on experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and operational analysis within a dynamic property management environment. The intern will work with financial systems and cross-functional teams to identify trends, improve processes, and support data-driven decision-making that contributes to Haley Residential's overall financial performance.  This is a part-time position.


This role offers a dynamic learning environment where the intern will build foundational skills in financial analysis, reporting, and systems while contributing to meaningful projects that impact the business


Essential Responsibilities

  • Assisting with business intelligence efforts, including reviewing formulas, validating data accuracy, and learning how to build and maintain KPI dashboards to support decision-making.
  • Supporting underwriting (UW) activities alongside leadership, gaining insight into deal evaluation and financial modeling.
  • Analyzing move-in and move-out trends across the portfolio, including identifying and reporting on key drivers and reasons for resident turnover.
  • Participating in forecasting and budgeting processes, helping to track performance against financial goals and identify variances.
  • Contributing to the development and maintenance of a financial tracker, with a focus on evaluating financial performance and understanding why assets may be over or under budget.
  • Gaining exposure to asset management concepts, including deeper dives into property-level financial and operational performance.
  • Assisting with additional projects, including potential involvement in API integrations and system enhancements, providing an opportunity to learn technical and data-driven processes with appropriate training and support.

Job Specifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, Economics, Real Estate, or a related field. 
  • Prior internship or coursework in finance, data analysis, or real estate is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar) is a plus. 
  • Exposure to financial modeling concepts or willingness to learn.
  • Foundational understanding of financial statements, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Alignment with company values and professionalism in working with team members and partners.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative "how can I help?" attitude.
