About the Role

Part-time Intern in Sensory Science, Science & Research

San Diego, CA, US

We have an opportunity for a part-time Intern in Sensory Science to join the Science & Research team based in San Diego, CA. Join our flavor discovery team in this part-time 6 month role that supports a wide variety of research project activities onsite in our taste lab.  Get hands-on experience to support your future career in scientific discovery!

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Prepares samples using analytical balances and dilutions
  • Executes sensory testing and collects data
  • Analyzes results and makes recommendations
  • Prepares lab areas for taste testing
  • Sample testing including density and pH measurements
  • Refines and works with SOP’s
  • Adheres to all safety, scientific record keeping, and compliance requirements
  • Performs other duties as assigned

You Bring

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences preferred, including Chemistry, Food Science, Biology, or related science(s)
  • Candidates must be available to work an average of 20 hours weekly within work hours 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday; scheduling can be flexible
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office; ability to learn internal software programs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people
  • Ideal candidate will be eager, energetic, reliable and self-motivated and ability to work independently

The hourly rate provided reflects the pay range dsm-firmenich expects to pay the successful candidate for the position. Individual pay offered will be based on the applicant’s job-related skills, experience, relevant education, or training, and primary work location. Hourly rate: $23-$26.
