About the Role

At Roche you can show up as yourself, embraced for the unique qualities you bring. Our culture encourages personal expression, open dialogue, and genuine connections,  where you are valued, accepted and respected for who you are, allowing you to thrive both personally and professionally. This is how we aim to prevent, stop and cure diseases and ensure everyone has access to healthcare today and for generations to come. Join Roche, where every voice matters.

The Position

Our Global Internship Programme in Innovation & Sustainability (#IP2TIS) offers a unique opportunity for passionate individuals to gain hands-on experience in the pharmaceutical industry while making a positive impact on the world.

Are you ready to join a global network spanning 20+ countries, where bright minds collaborate to tackle real-world challenges in Innovation & Sustainability? Do you want to work on impactful projects, shape the future, and drive change from within?

As an intern, you will contribute to Compleasy, an AI-powered supplier due diligence and ESG intelligence project designed to strengthen sustainability and risk transparency across Roche’s global value chain. The project aims to automate the analysis of unstructured supplier data, identify humanitarian and ecological risks, and support audit-ready, legally robust ESG reporting in a trusted data environment. Within your first 3 months, you are expected to help deliver a proof of concept for AI-based ESG KPI extraction, a gap analysis of a Compliance Command Center tailored to Roche’s supplier risk categories, a risk visualization dataset, and an implementation roadmap for integration with existing systems. You will also support benchmarking key suppliers against Science Based Targets and Roche standards to identify emissions-related risk in the supply chain. Your work will contribute to more sustainable sourcing, stronger compliance readiness, and more resilient supply chain decision-making. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of AI, sustainability, and global supply chain transformation.

The Opportunity

  • Develop a proof of concept for an AI document scanner that extracts ESG KPIs from supplier audit reports and related documents

  • Conduct a gap analysis of the Compliance Command Center for Roche-specific supplier risk categories and reporting needs

  • Work with RAG-based AI approaches to automate the identification of humanitarian and ecological risks in the supply chain

  • Process unstructured supplier files such as PDFs, audits, and certificates and help convert them into structured, actionable insights

  • Map global supplier network clusters to support regional risk visualization, for example for pharmaceutical ingredients or medical device components

  • Create a technical implementation roadmap for integrating the AI scanner with Roche’s existing ERP and GRC systems

  • Benchmark suppliers against Science Based Targets and Roche sustainability standards

  • Contribute to a benchmark report and digital tool that identifies suppliers not yet aligned with a 1.5°C pathway and highlights emissions-related risk for Roche

Who You Are

You are enrolled or have completed your Master’s or PhD studies at a university, preferably in the field of Computer Science with a focus on AI or NLP, Supply Chain Management, Environmental Law, ESG / Sustainability, or Engineering within the last 12 months and are interested in applying your knowledge in a modern working environment as part of an internship of at least 3 months.

Furthermore you are

  • Experienced with AI or RAG-based systems and comfortable processing unstructured data such as PDF documents

  • Proficient in Python and interested in data extraction, automation, and risk analysis

  • Familiar with ESG or supply chain regulations such as CSDDD or BAFA, and interested in sustainable sourcing and supplier due diligence

  • Comfortable with data visualization and able to turn complex findings into practical insights

  • A detail-oriented, independent, and collaborative problem solver with strong English skills; German is a plus

If you meet most but not all qualifications, we still encourage you to apply.

Additional information

The internship is expected to start between 1 and 16 July 2026 and will last at least 3 months.
