About the Role

Position Summary

The Electrical Engineering (EE) Summer Intern will support the manufacturing engineering team in maintaining, improving, and troubleshooting electrical systems and equipment within a production environment. This internship provides hands-on exposure to industrial electrical systems, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist engineers with troubleshooting electrical issues on manufacturing equipment and production lines
  • Support preventive maintenance activities for electrical and control systems
  • Help document electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control logic, and troubleshooting manuals.
  • Assist with process improvement and cost‑reduction projects related to equipment performance and reliability
  • Participate in data collection and analysis related to downtime, efficiency, and safety
  • Support installation or modification of PLC-controlled systems, sensors, motors, and drives
  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and lockout/tagout requirements
  • Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and production teams on daily tasks and projects


Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
  • Completed at least sophomore year by start of internship
  • Basic understanding of electrical circuits, motors, and control systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to work in a manufacturing/plant environment


Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to Allen-Bradley PLCs or other logical controllers. 
  • Familiarity with industrial automation, sensors, and motor controls
  • Experience with AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar electrical drafting software
