About the Role

 JOB SUMMARY: Assist machinists by performing duties such as supplying or holding materials or tools, maintaining machinery and/or cleaning work area and
equipment. Under the direction of a trained and seasoned machinist, may also learn skills in effectively operating a mill and/or lathe machine. 
 

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES include: 

• Works with seasoned machinists to begin learning about machine shop.  

• Learns about machining by studying work orders, blueprints, materials, specifications, locations of surfaces and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).  

• Learning to maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving and cutting; including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; replacing worn
tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes. 
 

• Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.  

• Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements.  

• Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs.  

• Documents actions by completing production and quality logs. 

• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.  

• Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. 

Minimal requirements for education, knowledge and experience:  

• Education – High School Diploma/GED or currently enrolled and at least 16 years of age.  

• Experience – None required.  

• Must be willing to work toward an apprenticeship or Stolle-approved courses for the Machinist Apprenticeship.  

This position requires the ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities in the following environment:  

• Work schedule generally consists of 30- 40 hours per week which may also require nights or a rotating shift.  

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
