CDS Intern - Delivery and Installation Team

The Costco Digital Services Division is inviting students currently enrolled in an IT or related undergraduate or graduate program at a college or university to participate in a twelve -week paid internship program during 2026. Interns will work within specific areas in Costco’s Information Systems Division. Interns will attend presentations given by various members of Executive Management from IT and other areas of the Company. Interns will be responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses. Housing is not provided. The program runs mid June to early September and is located in Schaumburg, IL . No out of state work allowed. All interns will adhere to the CDS hybrid work model of three days onsite and two days remote. 

Costco Logistics(CL) Delivery and Installation (D&I) IT team is leveraging modern enterprise programming languages, frameworks, and infrastructure to build innovative delivery and installation applications for the future. This team is responsible for full-stack software development - from the user interface(ui) layer all the way to the database. The intern will have support from experienced engineers supporting both backend and UI to succeed in learning about the D&I technology stack and strengthening coding skills. The intern will work on features that will one-day be used by members and employees in the CL warehouses and support centers while getting fully immersed in the Costco Culture. 

NOTE: While participating in the IT Internship program, an individual will be classified as an hourly temporary employee for the duration of the program. During the program, the individual may be asked to undergo the normal interview process for a level 1 position. If the individual is offered a position, they will be converted to the employment status matching open job they were selected for. If they are not selected for a regular position, the internship position will be complete in a maximum of twelve weeks.

• Develops efficient code in various development languages for enhancements and bug fixes 
• Develops, tests, and deploys software solutions and process flows complying with standards, guidelines, and best practices 
• Creates, executes, and evaluates unit/integration tests 

Required: 

• 1+ years’ experience designing and developing Java applications 
• 1+ years’ experience with relational database development using MySQL 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
• Possess good organizational, time, and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize, and stay well organized. 
• Currently maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher. 
• Students currently enrolled in an IT or related undergraduate or graduate program at a community college, college or university. 

Recommended: 

• 1+ years of experience in SpringBoot and Rest API 
• 1+ years of experience in React and/or Angular 
• 1+ years of experience of deploying and maintaining Java applications in cloud (Azure is Plus) 
• Working knowledge of any Git/Github/Jenkins/Azure DevOps. 
• Experience developing application using microservices architecture 
• Experience with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) is a plus 
• Team player – friendly, communicative, open, honest, thoughtful and committed. 
• Must work cooperatively with others, sharing ideas and collaborating and ultimately putting team goals first. 
• Proficient in Google Workspace applications, including Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Gmail.
