Summer Internship, Farming Environmental Health & Safety

Overview: 

We are seeking a motivated and responsible Wonderful Scholar for full time internship. In this position, you will gain hands on professional experience and learn how the department runs.

Here's what you'll do: 

Safety Project work includes:

• Safety Form Development - take existing safety forms and enter into the Enablon Safety Database.
• Enter events into Enablon
• Perform first aid kit and fire extinguisher inspections.
• Conduct Critical Behavior Observations in the field.
• Assist farming, nursery, and shop supervisors with their monthly tailgates delivery.
• Assist the EHS Supervisor with site inspections.
• Support additional safety project needs.
• Learn about all components of a safety program including: safety training curriculum development, accident investigation, employee coaching, SIF PDCAs, and facility/jobsite inspections.

Work environment/conditions: Combination office/field work; Orchard conditions are extreme, with summer temperatures regularly exceeding 100 F°. Some night work is expected to support our spray operations.

Here's what you'll bring to the table:

• Enrolled in accredited undergraduate or graduate degree program with studies focused on Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Compliance, Business Administration, Human Resources, Industrial Technology, or related field
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-directed and able to work autonomously.
• Energetic and able to tackle new projects and ideas.
• Ability to write and present reports as requested.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Computer Proficient in Word, and Excel, and use of the internet.
• CA Valid Driver’s License.

Pay Rate: $18.50 an hour.
