EROAD’s Internship Programme in our Product, Devices and Engineering team is designed to provide you with hands on experience and give you invaluable commercial experience.  

The Roles: 

We are hiring for the below roles as part of our 2026-2027 Summer Internship Programme: 

  • Software Engineer Interns 

  • Firmware Engineer Interns 

  • Information Security Intern

  • UX Designer Intern

You will gain valuable experience in your desired field and will work on real-life projects alongside experienced team members. Working closely with mentors, delivery teams and fellow interns, you will be offered the opportunity to be part of a team that is committed to delivering excellence and creating a better world tomorrow.  

You will have access to innovative technology, work on challenging projects, and collaborate with some of the brightest minds in tech. Whether it is developing existing and new features, solving complex problems, or researching new ways of doing things, you will be empowered to contribute to our vision, purpose, and the betterment of society. You will be onboarded into the organisation and will have regular developmental conversations with mentors and managers.   

Throughout your internship, you may...

  • Collaborate with team members to design, develop, and test features. 

  • Learn and apply new technologies and development methodologies. 

  • Participate in Agile development practices such as stand-up meetings, sprint planning, and retrospectives.

  • Participate in team brainstorming sessions and contribute to the development of new ideas and features. 

  • Participate in team initiatives and projects.

  • Work on bug fixes and enhancements to products.

Software Engineer Interns: 

  • Java, C#, SQL, Kotlin, JavaScript, React 

  • Frontend and/or Backend development 

  • AWS cloud management 

  • API 

  • Software Quality Assurance and Testing/Automation Testing 

  • Mobile Development 

  • Linux 

  • DevOps 

  • CI/CD 

Firmware Engineer Interns:

  • Android and embedded programming. 

  • Kotlin, C/C++ 

  • Microcontroller programming 

  • Mechatronics  

Information Security Intern:

  • Python 

  • Strong interest in information security 

  • Linux terminal and version control 

  • Cloud (AWS, Terraform) 

UX Designer Intern:

  • Figma (prototyping, wireframing, and responsive skills) 

  • User-centred design methods 

  • Basic FE knowledge

We understand that you might not have extensive work experience, which is perfectly fine! What matters most to us is your positive attitude, willingness to learn and potential to grow. 

You are ideally in your penultimate year of study in a relevant field. In the past we have had applicants from Engineering & Computer Science backgrounds, including but not limited to – Computer Systems, Software, Mechatronics, Engineering Science, Computer Science, and more. We are open minded!    

You may also have some or all of the following: 

  • Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • Are enthusiastic and collaborative. 

  • Have a passion to work in a fast-paced tech environment. 

  • Good interpersonal skills; both verbal and written are essential. 

  • Love learning and solving difficult problems within a team environment. 

  • Have a “garage project” or portfolio (personal project) you can share with us.

EROAD’s summer Internship Programme will run from November 2026 to February 2027, and many of our past internships have resulted in Graduate placements and long-term careers with EROAD! We ensure you have the tools, technology and training to do your best work, and hope to offer you an entry into the exciting world we create! 

Location: 

The internship is based out of our head office in Albany, Auckland and we work in a hybrid environment. On-site parking is provided, and we are located close to Albany bus station. 

Eligibility Criteria: You must be... 

  • Legally permitted to work in New Zealand. 

  • Available for full-time work from November 2026 through to February 2027. 

  • Have 12 months or fewer professional working experience in a Technology business. 

  • Available to partake in our Assessment Centre Day on Wednesday the 8th of July 2026 from 9:00am – 3:00pm.
