Quality Engineering Intern

Reports to: Quality Manager

Hours/schedule: Monday-Thursday 6:00a-4:30p (10-12 weeks) 

  

This internship in Quality Engineering will help build professional credentials and will help develop critical thinking skills. Quality, compliance to requirements, and continuous improvement are key in all that we do. This unique program led by experienced quality professionals will ensure that interns are learning, mentored, and intertwined with the organizations they support by having substantial work and project. We will provide mentorship to you by a quality engineer and exposure to senior management and executives.


Key Learning Areas & Responsibilities

1. Quality Management System (QMS)

  • Internal audits/assessments to AS9100 and internal requirements.
  • Procedure/Process mapping

2. Manufacturing – Quality

  • Process verification/validation activities
  • CAPA & Non-conformance investigation support
  • Key Process Indidicator (KPI) data and reporting

3. New Product Introduction & Improvement Projects

  • Review Customer provided documentation (drawings, specification sheets, purchase orders, and other) to ensure compliance.
  • Review of component datasheets from suppliers to ensure component compliance.

Development Objectives

By the end of the internship, students will:

  • Understand the expectation and importance of a Quality Management System (QMS); AS9100 requirements.
  • Gain experience in contract manufacturing to include the differences between the original electronics manufacturing (OEM)
  • A general understanding of manufacturing systems, such an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), and Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
  • Develop skills in root cause analysis, communication, and requirement interpretation.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a degree program in an engineering field, or a STEM related field. At least completed Sophomore year
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) and have strong oral and written communication skills
  • Interest in engineering and an understanding of contract manufacturing
  • Attention to detail and a drive to learn.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to work independently as well as on a team
