Job Description

The Strategic Planning and Development Finance Intern supports the Development Finance team by assisting with financial planning, reporting, and analysis related to capital projects. This position works with cross-functionally with internal departments, including Development Project Management, Contract Administration, Corporate Accounting, and Resort Accounting, to support accurate financial tracking throughout the capital project lifecycle. The role contributes to maintaining financial data integrity, supporting budget and forecast processes, and assisting with reporting and documentation from project initiation through transfer to asset management.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Assist with preparing monthly journal entries and the preparing the related supporting documents.
  • Assist the team with preparing the month end processes such as allocating Shared Cost, allocation of overhead costs, and creating fixed assets.
  • Assist in the preparation, maintenance, and distribution of recurring financial reports.
  • Support the team with updating and maintaining dashboards (REN, DEV, Projects Dashboard Reporting) and reporting tools used for development and renovation projects.
  • Assist with reconciling financial data from the projects subledger to ensure accuracy of work‑in‑progress (WIP), construction-in-process (CIP) and identify variances from the general ledger activity.
  • Support project setup activities and assist with reviewing project commitments to help identify aged or inactive items.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to obtain and validate project status information, including in‑service dates.
  • Assist Strategic Planning team with monthly post‑mortem analyses by gathering data and supporting comparison of actual results to original business case assumptions.
  • Participate in identifying opportunities for process improvement and efficiency within Development Finance operations.
  • Support departmental documentation and deliverables related to interim and year‑end audits.
  • Follow established departmental policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Will Bring:

Experience

  • Academic coursework or project work in finance, accounting, or related disciplines preferred.
  •  Exposure to financial reporting, accounting systems, or project‑based coursework is a plus.
  •  Internship, practicum, or classroom experience related to financial analysis or reporting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with enterprise financial systems (e.g., ERP platforms) gained through coursework, training, or internship experience is a plus.

Education

  • Previous internship, part-time work, or campus involvement in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment is a plus.
  • Currently enrolled as a junior or senior in an accredited bachelor’s program—or a recent graduate (within 1 year)— or Master's Program student in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and must be in good academic standing.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Basic understanding of financial and accounting concepts, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks in a structured work environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team to support departmental goals.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to work with numerical and financial data accurately.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and workflows in a dynamic business environment.
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn, take direction, and actively build professional and technical skills with guidance.

Travel Requirements

  • This position requires flexibility in work location based on business needs. The Intern may be based at the Orlando Windhover Corporate Office or work from one of our Orlando or Kissimmee resort locations and Ocoee Corporate Office.
