About the Role

Position Summary

The Purchasing Intern will support the Purchasing and Supply Chain team in executing daily procurement activities within a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment. This role provides hands-on experience in supplier management, purchase order processing, and supply chain operations while ensuring alignment with quality standards such as AS9100.

The intern will assist with pricing analysis, supplier communications, and expediting activities to support on-time delivery and operational efficiency.

This role is temporary with an anticipated Start Date: May 25 or June 1 & anticipated end date of August 28th. This role is not benefits eligible. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist buyers in creating and maintaining pricing lists for critical suppliers and commodities
  • Support purchase order (PO) placement, including data entry, validation, and documentation
  • Monitor and expedite overdue purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery of materials
  • Track and follow up on items listed on the late order / past due report
  • Communicate with suppliers regarding order status, delivery updates, and discrepancies
  • Assist in sending, tracking, and organizing supplier survey and evaluation forms
  • Support supplier compliance efforts, including documentation aligned with AS9100 standards
  • Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier files, and tracking tools
  • Assist with cost comparisons, quote analysis, and supplier benchmarking
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Planning, Operations, Quality) to support material needs
  • Provide general administrative and reporting support to the Purchasing team

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in:
    • Business Administration
    • Supply Chain Management
    • Operations / SIOP / Planning
    • Sales or related field
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
  • Excellent business writing and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Interest in aerospace manufacturing or supply chain operations preferred

Preferred Skills / Exposure

  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Epicor, SAP, Oracle)
  • Understanding of procurement or supply chain concepts
  • Exposure to supplier quality standards (AS9100) or regulated industries
  • Analytical skills with ability to work with data (pricing, lead times, etc.)
