Visit Grand Junction Intern – Administrative and Content

HIRING RANGE: $18.00 per hour

About the Position:
Visit Grand Junction seeks an intern to join our dynamic team in a fast-paced and innovative destination marketing environment. The primary responsibilities for this intern position will involve administrative and data-related work, Official Grand Junction Adventure Guide fulfillment and stocking racks in the community and hosting the Visit Grand Junction Mobile Visitor Center at the Downtown Market on Main on Thursday evenings (July – September).

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist with creating, updating, auditing, copy editing, and proofreading materials such as eNewsletters, blogs, and website content.
  • Assist with graphic design, photo and video editing projects.
  • Assist with planning and managing user-generated content and digital applications.
  • Assist with preparing, organizing, and maintaining documents, reports, marketing materials, records, and surveys.
  • Assist with organizing the creation and content of the Grand Junction Official Adventure Guide by tracking edits, coordinating brand assets, and assisting with future updates. 
  • Assist with web-based gamification application.
  • Provide general administrative duties including data entry, brochure inventory and ordering, answering phones, Grand Junction Adventure Guide fulfillment, records retention, and processing event calendar submissions.
  • Coordinate, staff, and assist with hosting the Visit Grand Junction Mobile Visitor Center at the Downtown Market on Main (Thursday evenings from 3:45 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. during the summer months; dates TBD). 
  • Respond to visitor, resident, and stakeholder inquiries in a professional and helpful manner.
  • Perform additional projects and duties as assigned.

     

    A VARIETY OF TASKS WILL BE ASSIGNED TO PROVIDE A COMPREHENSIVE LEARNING EXPERIENCE.

     

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience or coursework in marketing, data analytics, public relations, journalism, social media, and event experience preferred, but not required.
  • Proficient with MS Office software including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Experience with design software and graphics editing tools (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Google Office software, including Docs, Sheets, and Slides, preferred but not required.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to engage with visitors, residents, stakeholders, and Visitor Center volunteers in a professional and courteous manner. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment while taking direction from multiple staff members.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and strategic thinking. 
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (i.e., Tableau) is a plus but not required. 
  • Modern office technology and equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, vulnerability, and accountability.

Supplemental Information:

Work Schedule

  • 20 – 30 hours per week, generally between 8:30 am to 5:00 pm (depending on class schedule).
  • Evening work will be required to assist with the Downtown Market on Main on Thursdays, from 3:45 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. (July – September). 

Physical Conditions

The following physical activities are very or extremely important in accomplishing the job’s purpose and are performed on a daily basis:

  • Exerting up to 30 pounds of force on a push/pull cart occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. 
  • Sedentary work: Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for prolonged periods. The employee is regularly required to see, hear, talk, stand, twist and use repetitive motions in the conduct of work. The employee is also required to perform light lifting.
