About the Role

Position Summary

The Annie E. Casey Foundation’s paid, twelve-week summer program is designed to provide interns with engaging, challenging project-based assignments, cross-team exposure and learning opportunities in a mission-driven environment, working to support their assigned team as well as on a group project with each other. The program will run from June 1–Aug. 21, 2026.

The Foundation is offering an internship to work with its Strategic Communications team, reporting to a senior communications associate. The role will support the team’s efforts to develop programmatic communication materials and conduct general research to help advance team and Foundation goals. The position also provides writing and proofreading for external and internal products

Responsibilities

  • Assist internal and programmatic communications team with presentations, editing and other duties as assigned.
  • Assist in the development of new postings and information on the Foundation’s website.
  • Organize and create content and materials for the Foundation’s intranet system.
  • Help with drafting and proofreading materials.
  • Other assignments as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates should be enrolled in an undergraduate program in communications, journalism or related field.

Essential Skills and Abilities

  • Strong strategic thinking, planning and organizational skills.
  • Must be proficient in writing, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint and able to build skills to edit for Casey and Associated Press (AP) style.
  • Graphic design skills are a plus.
  • Ability to self-manage and work independently on projects and assignments.
  • Strong research, interpersonal and analytical skills as well as written and oral communication skills.

Tools and Equipment Used

Telephone, copiers, computer with Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Zoom

Physical Demands/Workplace Environment

The work will be performed in a hybrid setting based in Baltimore, MD. 

Compensation

This is a temporary position compensated at a rate of $19 to $25 hourly, up to 40 hours per week.
