About the Role

Description

About Reinvestment Fund:

Reinvestment Fund is a mission-driven financial institution committed to making communities work for all people. As a federally certified community development financial institution (CDFI), we bring financial and analytical tools to partnerships that work to ensure that everyone has access to essential opportunities: affordable places to live, access to nutritious food and health care, schools where their children can flourish, and strong, local businesses that support jobs. We use data to understand markets, communities, and impediments to opportunity—and how investment and policy decisions can have the most powerful impact. We are part of coalitions that work to shift how entire sectors work to dismantle systems that perpetuate social and economic inequality.

Reinvestment Fund’s Policy Solutions team partners with government, nonprofit, and other civic leaders to support strategic decision-making to strengthen communities. We conduct rigorous research and build analytic tools that help stakeholders implement effective interventions to achieve equitable outcomes. We are recognized nationally for producing objective research on residential and commercial market conditions, fair housing, access to high quality early childhood education, mortgage foreclosures and evictions, fresh food access, community social wellbeing, and the impact of housing and community development programs.

About The Position:

We are seeking a current graduate student to join our Policy Solutions team this summer as a dedicated intern. This temporary intern position provides an opportunity for a detail-orientated, self-directed student to learn from some of the best talent in the community development field while contributing to the organizations strong social mission. This role will involve:

• Gathering, compiling, cleaning, and analyzing data related to Reinvestment Fund research and consulting projects. These tasks may relate to housing policies, public investment activities and community development program delivery systems. This may include internet-based research and phone calls.

• Using GIS software to plot data and prepare maps, for reports and other publications.
• Preparing and summarizing research findings in memo formats and presenting findings as part of working team sessions.

The ideal candidate will be enrolled in a relevant graduate degree program such as city planning, public policy, spatial analytics, or sociology. This position is perfect for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in data analysis and community development. The internship is designed to last up to 13 weeks, providing ample opportunity for skill development and practical experience, with the potential to extend into the fall and spring semesters part-time for the right candidate.

· Be able to commit to a minimum of 20 to 37.5 hours per week during the summer months. If the assignment continues beyond the summer, be able to commit to 10-15 hours per week during the fall/spring semesters.
