Overview

The CB&I Human Resources Internship Program offers junior- and senior-level students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic corporate and construction environment. Designed for students and aspiring HR professionals, the program provides practical exposure to core human resources functions while working alongside experienced HR generalists and specialists.

 

While prior HR experience is not required, candidates should demonstrate a strong academic background, foundational knowledge of human resources principles, and proficiency with common computer applications (such as Microsoft Office). Interns will develop critical skills, gain insight into HR operations, and contribute to meaningful projects that support the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and support full-cycle recruitment activities, including posting requisitions in the applicant tracking system, conducting phone screens, and coordinating and scheduling interviews.
  • Participate in onsite interview processes as needed.
  • Become familiar with HR policies and procedures to assist in answering employee inquiries and supporting issue resolution.
  • Learn how human resources supports management with local employee relations matters, including performance management, investigations, and terminations, by applying established policies and procedures.
  • Assist with onboarding activities for new hires, including completion of new hire documentation, coordination of pre-employment screenings, and delivery of new hire orientation and presentations.
  • Learn to provide support for employee lifecycle activities such as hiring, onboarding, terminations, system updates, and other HR functions.
  • Deliver HR administrative support, including setting up and maintaining electronic employee files, updating payroll-related data, and performing other assigned duties.
  • Support planning and coordination of employee events and engagement activities.
  • Develop an understanding of leave of absence administration while supporting leave processes through accurate tracking and documentation.
  • Update and prepare weekly personnel reports.
  • Gain working knowledge of applicable employment laws and regulations to help mitigate organizational risk.

 


Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in a human resources or equivalent business degree program 
  • Motivated & outgoing individuals with expressed interest in human resources
  • Willingness to learn new skills

Final offer details and future compensation may be determined by multiple factors, including, but not limited to, geographic location, market compensation data, skills, experience, and other relevant factors. Pay Range:

$24.00-$25.00/hour
