Student Worker – Demographic Discovery Intern
LEGACY INTERN
Number of Openings: 1
Purpose/Objective of the Role:
Do you like to organize and troubleshoot? We are seeking a Legacy intern to support our efforts to evaluate, design, and implement a project to ensure our alumni and prospect’s demographic information is current and accurate. This is critical work at this time due to our launch of the university’s fundraising campaign and our transition to cloud-based data platforms.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
Working with our Campaign Consultants and University Advancement staff, along with information systems and third-party vendors, this position will implement a database-wide demographic clean-up project, with special focus on emails and phone numbers. They will document the processes and outcomes, as well as have the opportunity to train staff on implementation. This position will also offer the chance to work between a traditional relational database and various cloud-based systems to develop and implement their demographic project design.
Qualifications:
You must be a Legacy student to apply. We seek an intern who is dependable and a self-starter with strong organizational and communication skills, a curiosity for analyzing and exploring data, and an ability to maintain confidentiality; database skills are a plus, but not a requirement. Students should have a familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Word, and Google Docs and Sheets. They will receive on the job training in Raiser's Edge (Advancement’s CRM).
Potential Future Career Benefit:
This internship is applicable to many career fields, but may be of interest to someone in data analysis or data-related fields, and non-profit/office management. They will develop skills in critical thinking, database records, organization and processes, and working in an office environment. They will also gain exposure to the fields of fundraising and philanthropy.
NOTE: Employment sponsorship is not available for this position. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States.
