About the Role

JOB SUMMARY

The Accounting Intern provides administrative and accounting support to the Accounting team. This internship offers hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, job cost support, and general ledger processes while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and strong internal customer service.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with Accounts Payable processing, including invoice coding support, matching invoices to supporting documentation, and preparing items for approval.
  • Help maintain vendor and customer records, including filing, scanning, and document organization.
  • Perform data entry with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Support ERP system migration by taking on various assigned projects.
  • Participate in streamlining existing processes through AI enhancements.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial information and follow AVB policies and procedures.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Accounting team (mail, filing, meeting preparation, and other related duties as assigned).


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Preferred: Prior office, bookkeeping, or customer service experience.


OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and ask questions when clarification is needed.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
  • Ability to learn new software and follow documented processes.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The work environment described here represents what the employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee works primarily in an office setting. This job may require prolonged periods of sitting and computer use, with occasional standing, bending, and lifting. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
