About the Role


As a member of the WIC team, this position is responsible for conducting. Nutrition counseling for low and high-risk individuals as well as promoting nutrition education and lactation promotion and support. This position is approximately 25% WIC client service/administrative and 75% direct client service. Dietetic Interns are required to work on Saturdays as part of the Northeast Valley Health Corporation WIC Program Dietetic Internship.  All duties and responsibilities are assigned as part of the community nutrition experience.

Reports to:  Nutrition Education & Training Director/Clinic Supervisor

Qualifications:

1.    Verification Statement of bachelor’s degree in Dietetics/Nutritional Services and accepted into the Internship Program at Northeast Valley Health Corporation WIC Program/California State University of Northridge (CSUN).

2.    Knowledge of the policies and procedures (State and Local) for the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program.

3.    Working knowledge of WIC clinic operations.

4.    Ability to work with the corporate office WIC personnel as well as with other program personnel.

5.    Ability to evaluate and foster teamwork among the WIC staff.

6.    Computer skills in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.), and database systems.

7.    Ability to work effectively as a team player.

8.    Sensitivity to the different cultures represented among members and staff.

9.    Demonstrated ability to listen and communicate with others in a professional and caring manner including sensitivity with individuals from diverse cultures and lifestyles.

10.    Fluency in English (speak, read, and write).

11.    Fluency in Spanish or Armenian (speak, translate, read, and write) is preferred.

12.    Current California driver’s license, appropriate insurance coverage and a driving record acceptable to the NEVHC’s insurance carrier (if required to drive on the job).
