About the Role
Onsite Internship in Marlborough, MA.
Term: 3+ months with potential to extend to a maximum of 12 months

Join our team as a Research Intern and contribute to innovative strategies for the cryopreservation of therapeutic proteins. This hands‑on role places you at the intersection of biomaterials science, protein engineering, and biopharmaceutical manufacturing.

As a Research Intern, you will design and execute experiments, analyze data, and present findings on a weekly basis. You’ll help translate a small‑scale preservation system into a scalable platform suitable for real‑world biomanufacturing applications. Working alongside experts in biomaterials, protein chemistry, and process engineering, you’ll explore formulation, process development, equipment considerations, and economic feasibility.

This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in material stabilization, protein analytics, and scale‑up methodologies — all while contributing to impactful research in therapeutic protein storage and delivery.

What You Will Accomplish Together With Us:

  • Development & testing of biomaterial-based protein stabilization platforms.
  • Characterize platform formulations under different environmental and mechanical stress conditions.
  • Assess formulation performance using a range of analytical techniques to verify efficacy and consistency.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to scale up these lab-scale formulations for potential application in large-scale biopharmaceutical manufacturing.

What Will Convince Us:

  • Completed a B.S. or currently pursuing or completed a M.S. in Biomaterials Science, Chemistry, Bioengineering, Biophysics, or a related field
  • Hands-on experience with biomaterials systems in an academic or industry setting
  • Experience with protein characterization techniques (e.g., spectroscopy, light scattering)
  • Familiarity with protein stabilization & aggregation mechanisms from lab experience in biomaterials, formulation science, or pharmaceutical research.
  • Ability to systematically design experiments, collect data, and present findings in technical reports
  • Collaborative mindset – ability to work with interdisciplinary teams (scientists & engineers)
  • Curiosity and problem-solving ability – excited about innovative approaches to biomaterials and protein science
  • Identification with our core values: Sustainability, Openness, Enjoymen
