About The Company
As the world's leading derivatives marketplace, CME Group (www.cmegroup.com) is where the world comes to manage risk. CME Group exchanges offer the widest range of global benchmark products across all major asset classes, including futures and options based on interest rates, equity indexes, foreign exchange, energy, agricultural commodities, metals, weather and real estate. CME Group brings buyers and sellers together through its CME Globex® electronic trading platform and its trading facilities in New York and Chicago. CME Group also operates CME Clearing, one of the world’s leading central counterparty clearing provider in the world, which offers clearing and settlement services for exchange-traded contracts, as well as for over-the-counter derivatives transactions through CME ClearPort®. These products and services ensure that businesses everywhere can substantially mitigate counterparty credit risk in both listed and over-the-counter derivatives markets.
About the Role

CME Group runs some of the world’s largest and most important trading venues, including derivatives exchanges, FX Spot platforms and FI platforms. The participants on these platforms include globally leading investment banks, hedge funds, proprietary trading firms and investment managers. Many of these participants now trade using algorithmic approaches, exploiting the latest advances in machine-learning and artificial intelligence. In order to support these customers with their trading workflows, CME Group offers a range of data and analytics products, designed by our in-house research and development teams.

The Internship

The role is to take a single established data-analytics product idea and develop it over a nine-week period through coding and testing, to the point of commercial viability.  The work will bridge the gap between business, technology and product. Your work may range from product design, to technical documentation writing, to building and deploying prototype solutions. You will be required to work with a wide range of stakeholders from across CME’s business, from infrastructure and software development teams, to non-technical business persona, to experts in financial trading.

The work will include extensive use of financial data, writing algorithms in the field of algorithmic trading, using SQL, designing unit tests, using Git version control, writing technical documents in clear English, writing data quality tests, production of marketing material using Latex. The role will not include any "artificial intelligence" (AI), or extensive use of ‘machine-learning’.
