Project Title

Automated Process Monitoring and Data Visualisation for Manufacturing Excellence

Project Description

This internship project focuses on developing data-driven visibility into manufacturing processes through automated monitoring and visualisation. The student will gain hands-on exposure to how manufacturing data is collected, structured, and analysed to highlight process behaviour and opportunities for improvement.
Through guided learning and mentorship, the project enables the student to explore how dashboards and analytical models can be used to simplify complex process data and translate insights into meaningful engineering understanding.

Objective of the Project

The objective of this project is to equip the student with foundational knowledge in manufacturing data analytics by exposing them to automated monitoring systems, data visualisation, and analytical modelling within a wafer fabrication environment.

Opportunities to be Offered for Full-Time Employment

Students who demonstrate strong technical learning capability, analytical thinking, and professional growth during the internship may be considered for future full-time opportunities, subject to business needs and individual performance.

Project Scope

During the internship, the student will receive structured exposure to the photolithography process and advanced lithography tools used in a wafer fabrication plant. Under the guidance of a senior engineer, the learning scope includes:

  • Exposure to automated data monitoring concepts for key manufacturing metrics
  • Learning how software-based solutions are designed to collect and structure process data
  • Development of dashboards and visualisation tools to highlight trends and anomalies in manufacturing data
  • Introduction to analytical models that identify correlations and trends relevant to process optimisation
  • Participation in cross-functional learning discussions with engineering, information systems, and data science teams to understand how monitoring systems are developed and sustained

Learning Opportunities

Through this project, the student will have opportunities to:

  • Understand photolithography process fundamentals within a fabrication environment
  • Learn how manufacturing data is transformed into actionable insights through dashboards
  • Develop basic knowledge of data modelling and trend analysis for process improvement
  • Strengthen collaboration, analytical reasoning, and technical communication skills

Deliverables

  • A functional dashboard that visualises and analyses key process metrics in real-time or near real-time
  • Project documentation that explains system logic, data flow, and dashboard usage
  • A technical presentation summarising project progress, findings, and key insights derived from data analysis

Impact of Project

The project enhances visibility of process behaviour through structured data monitoring and visualisation, while enabling the student to build practical analytics experience relevant to manufacturing and engineering environments.

Skillsets Required

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Demonstrated interest or foundation in coding and data-related problem-solving
  • Willingness to learn software-based analytical and visualisation tools
  • Strong curiosity and structured thinking

Course of Interest

  • Engineering (all relevant disciplines)

Duration Period

  • Minimum 3 months (Preferred period: May- August 2026)
