How You’ll Make this Internship Opportunity Your Own

GDIT is seeking a talented Software Developer who is passionate about technology and software applications. This individual must be motivated to deliver innovative capabilities that directly impact some of GDIT’s most complex government, defense, and intelligence projects across the country. The work you’ll do will be impactful to the mission of our NYS customer. You will play a crucial role as you join our team in partnership with New York State of Health (NYSoH) to provide comprehensive health coverage to more than 7.0 million New Yorkers through its Health Benefit Exchange (HBE).

A Day in the Life 

  • Assist in researching, designing, developing, and/or modifying enterprise-wide or customer systems. 
  • Assist in performing systems modeling, simulation, and analysis. 
  • Assist in testing, diagnosing, and fixing incidents. 
  • Participates in large system and subsystem planning. 
  • Help ensure that applications and systems are compliant with established quality standards and meet customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned. 
  • Participate in special projects as required. 
  • Supports the completion of technical tasks.
  • Assists with the solutions to technical problems of limited scope.
  • Assists with the coordination for new products, software, upgrades, and equipment.
  • Assists with documentation for processes and procedures related to computer systems and operations.

Must Haves

  • Currently enrolled in an associate's, bachelor's or master's degree program in computer science, IT, engineering, or other STEM field from a United States-based college or university.
  • Core languages and Object-Oriented programming coursework including a minimum of one Java course
  • System Design, Data Structure, Application Framework, and Web Development course work.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Work, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Teams)

Strongly Preferred Experience

  • AI coursework
  • Familiarity with tools/concepts like Git version control, SQL databases, RESTful API’s, Testing and Cybersecurity.

What you Offer as a Stand-Out Candidate 

  • Familiarity with IT systems and demonstrated proficiency in various programming languages. 
  • Understanding of software development best practices 
  • Understanding of automation technologies and ITSM concepts.

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $21.25 - $28.75. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
