About the Role

About Children’s Home Association of Illinois (CHAIL):

CHAIL is a youth, family, and community focused 501(c)(3) organization with multiple locations and 450 staff, located in Peoria, IL. For over 160 years CHAIL has been helping the kids and families who need it most.  Children’s Home Association of Illinois (CHAIL) is the largest social service agency for youth and families in downstate Illinois. About the internship:

The Foster Care Casework Intern will support the various members of the Foster Care Team.  The Foster Care Casework Intern will assist in various operations and activities of the Children’s Home Association of Illinois Foster Care Department. This may include assisting in documentation, filing, attending appointments, attending court hearings, assisting in program projects, and gaining knowledge in the Child Welfare Sector.  Intern may assist in coordination of short-term projects. 

Core Responsibilities and Expectations: The Foster Care Casework Intern will gain experience in a wide variety of activities which include: monitoring youth in foster homes or various living situations, SACWIS, court report writing, development of service plans, file management, Foster Care Core, Case Opening Packet, various documents used by Foster Care staff, licensing, and internal and external services for clients.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience: Completed or working towards a degree in Social Services, Education, Child Development or related field

Skill Requirements: Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team; strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to handle stressful situations with tact and professionalism.

Physical Requirements: Speaking and hearing ability to allow for effective oral communication of information; ability to transport self to various locations; physical and emotional stamina to handle job-related issues.
