About the Role

Overview:

The Summer Executive Associate (SEA) Program is designed for 1st year MBAs 10 weeks of impactful project-based assignments, with significant access to senior management and the bank’s previous Executive Associates (EA). 

Corporate Services plays a critical role in enabling M&T Bank’s business by ensuring the organization’s physical, operational, and support infrastructure is efficient, resilient, and strategically aligned. The department’s primary mission is to acquire, develop, manage, and maintain the bank’s real estate portfolio, furniture, fixtures, security and equipment—assets that directly support employees, customers, and enterprise operations.


In addition to real estate and facilities management, Corporate Services includes several essential enterprise support functions such as Corporate Security; Space Planning; Procurement; Travel & Event Planning; and a Corporate Reuse Center that refurbishes and sells used company assets (such as furniture and technology). 


As a Summer Executive Associate within Corporate Services, MBA interns engage in hands on, project based work focused on strategy, analytics, and operational improvement. Project themes are designed to provide exposure to senior level decision making and cross functional collaboration and may include:


•    Workplace strategy and space optimization, including space planning in collaboration with Corporate Real Estate & Space Planning teams and assessing post-remote work needs and utilization strategies.
•    Performance measurement and reporting, supporting the development of a Corporate Services dashboard by identifying key metrics most relevant to internal customers, evaluating how those metrics are tracked today, and assessing opportunities to consolidate and report them on a quarterly basis.
•    Process improvement analysis, investigating existing workflows and forming recommendations for efficiency, scalability, and service enhancements across core Corporate Services functions.
•    Creating a concise leadership white paper by synthesizing stakeholder research and data analysis into clear findings, evaluated options, and actionable, evidence‑based recommendations for executive management.
 

Primary Responsibilities:      
•    Participate in, and lead where necessary, the planning and implementation of new projects, products, programs and initiatives to achieve short- and long-term business objectives and strategic outcomes. May develop project roadmaps and plans.


•    Assist and advise in addressing problems/solutions, risks and issues of any scope and size. Analyze information, determine feasible solutions and articulate recommendations to management.


•    Lead and take ownership of small and medium size efforts, co-coordinating activities and tasks across team and departmental boundaries.


•    Organize, plan and support the development of communication plans, test plans, change management plans and training plans to aid in the implementation and adoption of project or program deliverables.    


•    Adhere to all current standards and procedures ensuring all efforts are properly and accurately documented. Suggest and promote enhancements to procedures and standards where necessary.


•    Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.


•    Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.


•    Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.


•    Complete other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory/ Managerial Responsibilities:

Education and Experience Required:

  • Current enrollment in an MBA Program from an accredited business school.
  • Minimum two years professional, full time work experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential, as evidenced through previous work experience, extracurricular activities, or community involvement
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and critically analyze complex business challenges
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Work visa sponsorship not offered for this role

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Previous project management, process optimization, real estate portfolio optimization, or analyst experience

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $100,000 - $171,000. The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation. The range listed above encompasses all geographic locations. The pay rate specific to your location will fall within this range and is available from your recruiter.
