About the Role

Position Overview

Coverpoint Partners is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Information Security Intern to join our Information Security team. This internship offers hands-on exposure to real-world cybersecurity operations within a regulated environment, including SOC compliance management, vulnerability remediation, and security tooling in the Microsoft Azure Government (GCC-High) cloud ecosystem.


The intern will work directly with senior security leadership, including the Acting CISO, Systems Security Engineer, Director of Technology and Information Security, and potentially the VP of Technology Solutions. This role is designed to provide meaningful, practical experience in governance, risk, compliance (GRC), and operational security.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing and maintaining SOC compliance documentation and evidence collection
  • Support ticket management and tracking of security-related issues and remediation efforts
  • Participate in vulnerability management activities, including reviewing findings and helping coordinate remediation
  • Contribute to audit preparation and potentially support external audit engagements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address security findings and improve controls
  • Assist with proactive security initiatives aimed at reducing risk and strengthening posture
  • Help document policies, procedures, and security processes


Tools & Technologies Exposure

Interns will gain hands-on experience with enterprise security tools, including:

  • Microsoft Intune (endpoint management and device compliance)
  • NinjaOne (RMM and systems management)
  • Microsoft Defender (endpoint and cloud security)
  • Barracuda DLP and Web Application Firewall (WAF)
  • Azure Government (GCC-High) security and compliance tooling
  • Additional security monitoring and compliance management platforms


Learning Outcomes

By the end of the internship, the candidate will:

  • Understand foundational information security principles and best practices
  • Gain exposure to SOC frameworks and compliance processes
  • Develop experience working within a regulated cloud environment (Azure GCC-High)
  • Learn how enterprise security teams manage vulnerabilities and remediate risk
  • Experience collaboration across executive and technical leadership


Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Information Security, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
  • Strong interest in cybersecurity and compliance
  • Basic understanding of networking, operating systems, or cloud environments preferred
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
