Job Description
Harsco Rail is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented IT Intern to join our team for Summer 2026. This structured internship provides hands-on experience in enterprise systems, operational IT support, and project management within a global rail industry organization.
The intern will contribute to ERP system initiatives (Infor LN), assist with operational and application support, and develop a capstone project that delivers long-term value to the IT department. The internship culminates in an executive presentation to senior leadership.
This role is designed to provide meaningful exposure to IT strategy, cross-functional collaboration, and enterprise technology operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in documentation and process mapping of enterprise systems, including Infor LN (ERP).
- Support ERP upgrade initiatives through testing, data validation, and user assistance.
- Provide ad hoc application and operational IT support across departments.
- Design and deliver user documentation and training materials for system enhancements.
- Provide administrative and coordination support to IT project initiatives.
- Track deliverables, document meeting notes, and assist with scheduling and reporting.
- Collaborate with IT team members and business stakeholders to gather requirements and improve processes.
- Work alongside Organizational Change Management during system upgrades and process transitions.
- Originate, develop, and execute a capstone project aligned with departmental goals and long-term business value.
- Deliver a formal end-of-summer presentation to senior leadership outlining findings, recommendations, and impact.
- Participate in weekly check-ins with department leadership and cross-functional meetings.

Qualifications
- Currently a Junior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Eagerness to learn new systems and adapt in a fast-paced setting.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (especially Infor LN) is a plus but not required.

- Technical aptitude and foundational understanding of IT systems and enterprise applications.
