MaryRuth’s is seeking a Summer Intern in Analytics Engineering. This is an entry-level internship designed for someone eager to learn the modern data stack and gain hands-on experience building scalable, well-governed analytics solutions. This role will work closely within the Analytics team to support real-world projects with a strong emphasis on data modeling and governance using dbt along with utilizing analytics best practices. This role is ideal for a curious, detail-oriented problem solver who is excited to manipulate large datasets, write SQL, and build practical skills for a future career in Data Analytics or Analytics Engineering. This is a temporary (6/1/26 to 8/7/26), full-time, hourly, non-exempt, remote role. EST or CST hours are preferred.
Must be currently enrolled (as of 6/1/2026) in an academic program in Analytics, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, or a related field.
Responsibilities
Support analytics engineering projects with a focus on data governance, testing, and documentation in dbt; utilize production data pipelines and analytics workflows.
Learn and work within MaryRuth’s modern data stack, including Fivetran, Amazon Redshift, dbt, and Tableau.
Write and optimize SQL to transform and analyze large datasets.
Help build and maintain scalable data models that support business reporting and analytics.
Gain hands-on experience with version control using GitHub.
Collaborate with the Analytics team to understand how analytics supports the business.
Apply strong attention to detail to ensure data accuracy and reliability; approach ambiguous problems with a creative, solution-oriented mindset.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Learning Objectives
Gain confidence in the usage of data platforms, systems, tools, and software such as Fivetran, Amazon Redshift, dbt, Tableau, and GitHub.
Apply data analytics principles and knowledge to real-life business reporting and decisions.
Support data model creation, workflow building, testing, and documentation to further MaryRuth’s reporting and analytics capabilities.
Qualifications
Must be currently enrolled (as of 6/1/2026) in an academic program in Analytics, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, or a related field.
SQL experience or other proven coding experience (through coursework, projects, or prior work experience) is required.
Strong interest in learning analytics engineering concepts and tools.
Comfortable working with large datasets and learning how to model data at scale.
High attention to detail and a desire to build clean, reliable data assets.
Familiarity with Git or version control concepts is a plus.
Eager learner with a proactive, problem-solving attitude.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
This role involves sitting most of the time but may also involve moving for brief periods of time.
