About the Role: The Summer Sales Intern will support the Polk Automotive Solutions sales team by assisting with sales operations, market research, customer insights, and pipeline support activities. This role offers hands-on exposure to automotive intelligence, data-driven sales strategies, and B2B client engagement within a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

This internship is ideal for students interested in sales, business development, automotive markets, or data-driven decision-making.

Location: Southfield, MI (Please note: relocation assistance is not available)

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the sales team with account research, prospecting, and lead qualification

  • Assist in preparing sales presentations, proposals, and client-facing materials

  • Conduct market and industry research on automotive trends, OEMs, dealers, and aftermarket segments

  • Help analyze sales data, customer usage, and performance metrics using internal tools and CRM systems

  • Participate in pipeline management and forecasting activities

  • Shadow client meetings and internal strategy sessions to gain exposure to the full sales cycle

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, analytics, and product teams

  • Perform general administrative and operational support as needed

Learning Objectives

  • Gain hands-on experience in B2B sales and business development

  • Develop a working understanding of automotive data, analytics, and market insights

  • Learn how data-driven solutions are positioned and sold to automotive clients

  • Strengthen professional skills including communication, presentation, and analytical thinking

Qualifications

Required

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, Analytics, Finance, Economics, or a related field

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

  • Ability to analyze data and draw actionable insights

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and eager to learn

  • Strong interest in sales, automotive, and data-driven solutions

Preferred

  • Prior internship or coursework in sales, marketing, analytics, or automotive-related fields

  • Familiarity with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) or data visualization tools

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
