JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences Southeast Agricultural Research and Education Center in Manheim, PA offers a paid summer internship for undergraduates. Approximately 40 hours per week, mid-May thru August. Candidates must have housing and transportation to and from the facility in Lancaster County.
Interns complete specific projects and daily departmental assignments, including but not limited to:
- Work closely with professional staff experiencing firsthand day-to-day operation of the Research Center.
- Support research: collect data, work with research teams and shadow graduate researchers in the field.
- Experience best practices for production management and crop trials: assist in planning, planting, cultivating, harvesting, etc.
- Training to safely operate and perform preventive maintenance on agricultural research equipment.
- Experience all aspects of the research facility, as well as other professional development opportunities, training, and workshops.
BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES
Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
