About AIA

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) is the leading professional association for licensed architects, emerging professionals, and allied partners in the United States, representing more than 100,000 members across 270+ state and local components. AIA advocates at every level of government on issues central to the profession and the public: housing affordability, building codes and resilience, professional licensure, climate action, and procurement reform.

Position Summary:
 
Assist the AIA Professional Practice team in auditing and enhancing programs like the Young Architects Forum newsletter, the Architect’s Handbook of Professional Practice, and AIA Best Practices. Support national initiatives, build engagement strategies for business educators, and gain hands-on experience at the intersection of architecture, business, and professional development.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in auditing and improving AIA programs and communications, including the Architect’s Handbook, Best Practices, and Practice Management Digest.
  • Support the review and development of content for the Architect’s Handbook of Professional Practice.
  • Help organize, update, and maintain AIA Best Practices resources.
  • Conduct research to support the development of a national database of business educators in the AEC industry.
  • Contribute to initiatives that promote engagement, knowledge sharing, and professional growth across the industry.
  • Research and summarize business content from related professional associations.
  • Assist in auditing and cross-referencing content across AIA Architect, AIA Tech & Spec, AIAU, and Knowledge Communities.
  • Provide input on content organization and identify opportunities to better engage early-career professionals.

 Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Architecture, Architectural Studies, or a related field
  • Demonstrated interest in the business of architecture, professional practice, or career development in the AEC industry
  • Strong communication, research, and content development skills
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or in a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Smartsheet or web tools a plus

Internship Details

This is an 8-week, full-time remote internship which will run from June 15, 2026 - August 7, 2026.

Eligible applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
