About the Role

Job Description :

The New York Post provides readers with the best in News, Sports, Pop Culture and Entertainment – with signature wit, irreverence and authority averaging 90 million unique viewers a month. Over the past 224 years, The Post has evolved into a multi-platform media company spanning print, digital, video, audio, app, television and commerce.

The New York Post Internship Program offers a dynamic, hands-on experience designed to give interns exposure to real world work within the media and news industry. Our interns are highly valued team members who work on meaningful projects that directly impact our business. Throughout the program, interns participate in career building masterclasses that support their professional growth and have the opportunity to build lasting relationships with peers and key leaders in the company. Build your skills, grow your network, and get an inside look at life behind the headlines.

At the New York Post, we’ve been sharing bold opinions ever since Alexander Hamilton got the ball rolling. From politics to policy, we are relentless in our pursuit of fresh takes and hot topics that get people talking. With our unique voice at the center of it all, the Post's Opinion section continues to make waves, reaching millions of readers across the country, and we’re looking for an eager and passionate intern to help amplify that voice!

We’re on the hunt for a full-time Editorial Page Intern to join our team this summer and help shape the bold, impactful commentary that defines the New York Post! In this role, you’ll be immersed in one of the most influential editorial teams in the country. You’ll contribute to a section known for its bold, unapologetic voice — shaping the conversation around the day’s most important political and cultural issues. If you’re passionate about politics, enjoy tackling complex issues, and want to learn from the best, this is the perfect internship for you! Whether it's identifying breaking news that demands our unique perspective or diving deep into political issues and cultural debates, you’ll have the chance to craft pieces that matter and influence conversations.

Note: This internship is scheduled to run from June 1, 2026 - August 7, 2026. Participants are expected to work full time hours and adhere to our on-site work schedule. Open to current juniors and seniors pursuing a BA, MA students, and recent graduates who completed their degree within the past year.

What You’ll Do:

  • Identify trending topics in politics, culture, and policy, and pitch informed, compelling commentary ideas for editorial pieces.

  • Write draft editorials and potentially, as you grow in the role, contribute to signed columns that appear in our iconic Opinion section.

  • Contribute to our daily “Fast Takes” feature by summarizing and offering insights on outside opinion pieces, ensuring our coverage remains sharp and timely.

  • Assist the Editorial Board with research, fact-checking, and reporting on critical stories that require background or context.

  • Collaborate with experienced journalists to refine your writing skills and gain valuable insight into the editorial decision-making process.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A passion for politics, policy, and opinion writing — particularly within the context of current US affairs.

  • Strong writing skills and the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely.

  • A familiarity with both right-of-center and left-of-center political views — understanding both sides is crucial to crafting compelling commentary.

  • A deep understanding of US politics and policy issues, with a strong foundation in American and world history (knowledge of NYC and its local politics is a plus!).

  • A curious mind that thrives on research and a willingness to dive deep into political debates, history, and the latest news.

  • The ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom and maintain a sharp, engaging tone.

  • Include your writing samples with your application for bonus points, and even better if it’s an opinion piece!
