Position Summary:

ultraimpact – Make a difference for those who need it most

Ultragenyx is seeking a highly motivated individual to support our Legal Department-Policy, Government and Public Affairs team to continue developing communication materials to help tell our story to key global, federal, state and local policymakers. The ideal candidate demonstrates critical and solution based thinking skills, works collaboratively cross-departments and enjoys a dynamic environmentThis position will report to the Executive Director, Public Affairs.  

Work Model:

Remote: Officially documented as working full-time from home, with travel to Ultragenyx's offices or other locations on occasion as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and track federal and legislation and summarize activity on key issues related to rare disease policy and advocacy 
  • Support trade association activity on a state and federal level, including gene therapy issue engagement 
  • Support state government affairs and molecular diagnostics team on newborn screening issues at the federal and state levels, including development of reports and issue analysis 

Requirements:

  • Current bachelor or Master’s degree in Business, Communications, Healthcare or Public Policy-related work 
  • Proficiency in MS applications such as Power Point, Word, and Excel 
  • Strong verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to write clearly and effectively 
  • Ability to manage vendor contractor activity on time-sensitive deadlines 
  • Exceptional teamwork and collaboration skills with internal colleagues and external vendors
