Product Development, Merchandising, and Sourcing Internship

Internship Overview

This internship provides hands-on experience in merchandising, product development, and sourcing within the promotional products industry. The intern will actively support various merchandising initiatives, ranging from assortment planning and market research to product development and effectively positioning products in the marketplace.

Responsibilities

  • Understand Caps Direct’s role in the market and its approach to merchandising.
  • Learn key internal communication tools and platform
  • Conduct a comprehensive competitor analysis to evaluate current trends, product offerings, and pricing strategies of key competitors
  • Identify how booth merchandising and layout drives customer engagement
  • Develop a working understanding of tradeshow process – including pre-show marketing, customer outreach, pitch preparation and merchandising of the booth
  • Gain experience in market analysis and trend forecasting.
  • Understand the steps in the product development cycle from concept to prototype and how to incorporate research into the development and sales strategies.
  • Gain insights into how pricing and product strategy are established
  • Understand how to create assortments that meet both customer needs and sales targets.
  • Expand your knowledge of the sourcing process from selection of raw materials to product manufacturing
  • Learn how to manage vendor relationships, focusing on communication, negotiation, and collaboration
  • Develop an understanding of the importance of quality assurance and compliance in the sourcing and manufacturing process
  • Gain experience and confidence in delivering an effective presentation to customers. 
  • Understand how to build and maintain strong relationships with clients.
  • Showcase achievements and gather feedback.


Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Fashion Merchandising, Product Development, Business or a related field.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills
  • Effective and professional communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of product development preferred.
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn and contribute.
