The Position

You will be part of the Real World & Clinical Data Strategy (RWCDS) team located in Basel. As part of the wider Data Science and Analytics department, we provide expertise in the conceptualisation, design, conduct and interpretation of Real-World Data (RWD) studies to help the development of and access to Roche’s medicines. 


This role offers a unique opportunity to engage with large-scale RWD within a neurology context. You will deepen your understanding of diverse RWD sources and their power to address research questions that accelerate the delivery of novel therapies. You will operate within a state-of-the-art environment, utilizing agentic coding and a scalable cloud infrastructure.

The Opportunity 

  • Conduct feasibility assessments and develop research-ready cohorts across various neurology indications, such as Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) and Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
  • Leverage industry-leading multimodal Electronic Health Records (EHR) and claims databases to drive research insights.
  • Rigorously evaluate and compare data quality and depth to establish a robust foundation for future research projects.
  • Generate evidence and insights that will directly inform long-term strategic decision-making within the neurology pipeline.


Who You Are

  • You have earned an M.Sc. within the past 12 months prior to the start date, or you are currently enrolled in a Master's degree or PhD program in epidemiology, statistics, or data science or a similar quantitative discipline 
  • Familiarity with fundamental epidemiological concepts (e.g., cohort definition, incidence/prevalence, and bias in observational research)
  • Strong programming skills in R or Python and experience in developing reproducible data analysis pipelines
  • Proficient in SQL, databases, and Version Control (Git)
  • Successful applicants will demonstrate a keen interest to learn about new data, tools and methods, to experiment, and to complete the internship project within the allocated time. Prior experience and/or a keen interest in the specific project areas are a plus. 
  • A person who works systematically and precisely and brings a high level of initiative as well as a dedicated attitude
  • A proactive and transparent team worker
  • Proficient in English
  • Willing to spend the majority of time on campus in Basel.
  • Familiarity with biomarkers and outcome measures in psychiatric and neurodegenerative diseases is a plus

  • The earliest start date for this internship is June/July 2026, with a duration of 6 months
  • The role requires a commitment to full-time employment.
